HOW TO AVOID PRICE TRAPS WHEN IMPORTING FROM CHINA?
Did you know that when importing general cargo from China on CIF or CFR terms you may be overpaying unnecessarily? Sometimes changing to FOB terms can give you thousands of zlotys in savings!
If you’re importing from China, carrying freight from China on FOB terms is the most advantageous for you. In other cases, it is very common to encounter a situation where freight costs on CIF or CFR terms through a Polish port are artificially low for the shipper on the Chinese side, but heavily inflated on the Polish side. This means that you are also paying a portion of “someone else’s” charge. This is very difficult to change later.
That is why it is best to use solutions where it is your company that organises the transport from China. Then you have full control over the process and local costs will not surprise you.
Understanding the Chinese holiday calendar is extremely important for companies collaborating with China. Knowing the schedule of public holidays is especially crucial if you work in logistics. The impact of the Chinese calendar on this industry is significant as it determines the global transportation schedule.
The Chinese people view celebrations as an opportunity to meet with loved ones and spend time together. It is advisable to not only wish them health and prosperity on these special days but also respect their traditions by refraining from sending emails or business communications.
Holidays in China, particularly their dates, are determined by the lunisolar calendar, which means some of them are movable.

Very often the declaration of conformity is confused with the certificate of conformity or even considered to be the same document. In addition, a common term among manufacturers is “CE certificate”, it should be noted that such a thing does not exist! In this case, it is usually just the declaration of conformity.
A declaration of conformity is the manufacturer’s confirmation that his product is safe. Such a document can be issued by the manufacturer or his authorised representative. No one else, including even the body that has tested the product, has the right to sign the declaration of conformity.
The testing laboratory may provide the manufacturer of the product with a certificate of conformity, which is usually proof that the product meets the requirements. Please note that such a certificate of conformity is not a declaration of conformity!
The declaration of conformity confirms not only that the above-mentioned tests of the product have been carried out, but also that all the obligations relating to documentation have been fulfilled, i.e. carrying out the risk assessment of the product, proper marking of the product with the CE mark and warnings, or preparation of instructions for use or operation. These requirements can only be met by the manufacturer, so only the manufacturer will be able to issue and sign such a declaration.
The CE marking affixed to a product is the manufacturer’s declaration that its product complies with the requirements of the European Union’s New Approach Directives (http://www.oznaczenie-ce.pl/dyrektywy.php?&sessionID=fb6575e8e161f915a2f6bbff76448b59&mId=3). Below is a list of products for which these directives provide for CE marking:
There is no one specific template for the declaration, but there are guidelines as to the information that must be included in the document. The declaration should take care to include:
An important obligation is the storage period of the declaration. The manufacturer is obliged to keep it for a period of 10 years from the date on which the last product for which the declaration was made was placed on the market. The declaration should be updated if the safety-relevant features of the product change (any modifications to the product), or if the requirements applicable to the product change (e.g. the directives or standards under which the product was assessed). For some products, e.g. construction products or machinery, the declaration must be attached to the product when it is sold.
